ABOUT ME

A librarian who thinks beyond the shelves

Three decades of work have taught me that libraries are not buildings. They are positions. Strategic ones. And the people who run them have a responsibility that goes well beyond managing collections.

I am the University Librarian at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology and the first female professor of Library and Information Science this institution has produced.

But before the titles, there was the curiosity. There still is.

I grew up in this field at a time when the biggest question was how to make more resources available to more people. That question has not gone away. But a new one sits alongside it now.

In a world where AI can generate knowledge on demand, what becomes of the habits of mind that make knowledge meaningful? What happens to deep reading, original thinking, intellectual struggle?

Those questions shape my research, my teaching, and how I think about the future of libraries and the people who use them. I do not think technology is the enemy of scholarship. I think carelessness about technology is.

IDEAS

Things I think about out loud

I write regularly about libraries, scholarship, technology, and what it means to do serious intellectual work in African institutions. Some of it is professional. Some of it is personal. Most of it is both.

My work sits at the intersection of library science, digital transformation, and the future of scholarship. These are the areas I research, write, speak, and consult on.

🎓

Information Literacy

Teaching students and academics not just how to find information, but how to evaluate it, question it, and use it responsibly
